Does LASIK eye surgery wear off with time? In this video I explain how this can happen.
Lasik stands for Laser Assisted In situ Keratomileusis. This is where a flap is created in the anterior cornea using a Femto second laser. This flap is folded back and a excimer laser is then used to reshape the cornea to compensate for glasses and contact lenses.
Can Lasik eye surgery wear off? Yes, we usually call this regression and these 1-2% of cases do often get lasik enhancements. But over time the eyeball does age and the crystalline lens inside the eye changes. With this change the power of the eye changes and people often need glasses again or require another type of eye surgery.
